ISLAND ALCHEMIST

• 1 oz. / 30 ml. rye whiskey

• 1 oz. / 30 ml. pineapple Jamaican rum (Doctor Bird)

• ¼ oz. / 7.5 ml. pineapple gum syrup

• 2 dashes lime bitters

• 2 dashes tiki bitters

• orange peel oil

METHOD
add all ingredients to mixing glass / stir with ice until chilled / strain into a glass over a BFC / express orange peel oil over surface / garnish with orange twist and pineapple frond

ABOUT
Folks said they wanted an old fashioned series, so here is another riff of mine. Split basing is a great way to introduce new flavors. I thought the spice of the rye would pair well with a funky Jamaican rum (Doctor Bird). I added some more pineapple because it’s very subtle in DB. Cheers y’all!
