Bitter Mai Tai

BITTER MAI TAI

  • 1½ oz. / 45 ml. Campari

  • ¾ oz. / 22.5 ml. Jamaican rum (Smith & Cross)

  • ½ oz. / 15 ml. dry curaçao

  • 1 oz. / 30 ml. fresh lime juice

  • ¾ oz. / 22.5 ml. orgeat

METHOD
add all ingredients to shaker tin / add a small amount of crushed ice and shake until chilled / dirty dump into glass / top with crushed or pebble ice / garnish with mint bouquet and optional orange twist

ABOUT
This Mai Tai variation was created in 2019 by Jeremy Oertel at Donna Bar (Brooklyn, NYC). The name very much tells you what you’re going to get. The red bitter liqueur is front and center here, though you still get all the components of the Mai Tai you love: orange, lime, and almonds (orgeat). Cheers y’all!
