Death By Morning

DEATH BY MORNING

  • ¾ oz. / 22.5 ml. absinthe

  • ½ oz. / 15 ml. Branca Menta

  • ½ oz. / 15 ml. coffee liqueur

  • 1½ oz. / 45 ml. espresso

  • 1 tsp. / 5 ml. demerara syrup

  • 1 dash Angostura bitters

  • 2 drops saline solution

  • orange peel oil

METHOD
add all ingredients to shaker tin / add ice and shake until chilled / strain into coupe or Nick and Nora / express orange peel oil over the surface / garnish with orange twist (original calls for mint leaf)

ABOUT
This one was created in 2021 by Dzu Nguyen at Horsefeather (San Francisco). This espresso martini is assertive, but I love it. Surprisingly, absinthe and coffee make for a nice combo, and mint brings freshness. Citrus peel oils over the surface of espresso martinis is underrated and should be done more often! Cheers y’all!
