Mai Tai

MAI TAI

  • 2 oz. / 60 ml. blend of rums*

  • ½ oz. / 15 ml. dry curaçao

  • ¾ oz. / 22.5 ml. fresh lime juice

  • ½ oz. / 15 ml. orgeat

  • 1 tsp. / 5 ml. rich simple syrup

METHOD
add all ingredients to shaker tin / add a small amount of crushed ice and shake until chilled / dirty dump into glass / top with crushed or pebble ice / garnish with mint bouquet after slapping it to express oils and spent lime shell

ABOUT
I keep thinking of what my buddy Matthias Soberon (@servedbysoberon) once said, “The quest to find the best rum combination in a Mai Tai is like a Tikilover's search for the Holy Grail." I made this one for my birthday, and the blend of rums I used were *Hampden Estate 8 yr and Smith & Cross. A Mai Tai may be one of my deathbed cocktails (let’s be real, if I’m dying, I’m having more than one drink!). Cheers y’all!
