MASA TAI

  • 2 oz. / 60 ml. Oaxacan rum

  • ½ oz. / 15 ml. Nixta elote liqueur

  • ¾ oz. / 22.5 ml. fresh lime juice

  • ½ oz. / 15 ml. orgeat

  • ¼ oz. / 7.5 ml. simple syrup

METHOD
add all ingredients to shaker tin / add a small amount of crushed ice and shake until chilled / dirty dump into glass / top with crushed or pebble ice / garnish with mint bouquet

ABOUT
The classic Mai Tai is one of my favorite cocktails. I decided to make a riff inspired by some spirits from Mexico: Oaxacan rum and Nixta Elote liqueur. This rum has a funky and grassy taste to it that is similar to an unaged rhum agricole. I used the corn liqueur in replace of traditional curaçao. Cheers y’all!
